In anticipation of a new insurance legislation requiring that Non Life and Life operations of composite insurers be separated, the company sought and secured a strategic partner for its Life operations. With effect from 1^st January 2006, the Life business of the Company was transferred to a joint venture company, Metropolitan Life Insurance Ghana. The company is owned 40% by MET and 60% by Metropolitan Insurance Holdings of South Africa ( MIHL). MIHL is a major player in the South African Life market with operations in other African countries.
